A message from our President... Lance Lamkin 2020-2021
Dear OAOA Members and Executive Committee,
Thank you to the Oklahoma Airport Operators Association (OAOA) for allowing me to serve as your president for 2020-2021. It is truly an honor and privilege to have the trust of my fellow members and the executive committee to lead this outstanding organization. I would also like to thank President Pat Hurley, who has been an unshakeable leader through these times of COVID-19. She has been an outstanding person and mentor and I look forward to working with her in days to come. As an organization, we face unique situations that we have never known before. However, together we will push forward and triumph over these unusual circumstances. We must overcome and continue to build a better tomorrow.
OAOA, through its diverse and knowledgeable member network, has always provided the opportunity to exchange ideas, methods, information, legislation, and experience as related to the operation and management of airports. We band together as one organization to do what’s best not only for our airport but for all airports within Oklahoma. You see, deep down, that’s who we are. We are lovers of flight and would do anything to improve the system to ensure it lasts for generations to come.
As we move forward, I would challenge us to improve on our contributions, add new responsibilities to our organization, and expand on the ones we currently hold. The experience, knowledge, and accomplishments of the leaders before us will allow us to continue to be the voice of airports in Oklahoma. Throughout the coming year, my ambition for our association will be higher than ever. Over the next year I have set goals to accomplish the following:
1. Ensure OAOA has a substantial legislative voice in State and Federal aviation issues.
2. Add year-round virtual and/or in-person professional development and training opportunities.
3. Establish a training certification for Oklahoma Airport Managers.
4. Update the website to be more user friendly.
These items are just the groundwork to help fortify this organization moving forward. Our future depends on ALL our members, not just one single person. That is why I ask that together we communicate our needs to ensure OAOA is representing its members properly. Let’s all help OAOA be the loud and booming voice that we need to improve aviation in Oklahoma.
Onward and Upward!
