Northwest Region Director’s Report                                    July 12, 2017

Alva Regional:

Alva’s new set of T-Hangars are almost full and they plan to start on their new turf runway 08/26 this month.

Beaver Municipal:

Beaver plans to start a runway overlay project in August. They will be adding two inches of asphalt to the top of runway 17/35.

Blackwell-Tonkawa Municipal:

Blackwell had nothing new to report at this time.

Cherokee Municipal:

Cherokee had nothing new to report at this time.

Clinton Regional:

Clinton has finished their seal coat project and will be opening bids for their new Jet-A bulk tank project this week.

Enid Woodring Regional:

Woodring is in the initial planning phases of a RWY 13/31 crack seal and seal coat project. During the project they will also be bringing the runway in from 108ft to 75ft wide. This will help to cut down on maintenance cost in the future. Once that project is complete KWDG plans to move the lights in and replace them with LEDs.

Fairview Municipal:

Fairview has started engineering on a partial connecting taxiway project. 6K4 is also waiting on grant funding to perform an obstruction survey so they can get new GPS approaches to runway 17/35.

Guymon Municipal:

Guymon finished their ramp project and got new fencing along with an electric gate installed by their terminal building.

April 2017

Alva Regional:

Alva’s T-Hangar project is 99% complete and they will be handing the keys to the new renters soon. KAVK will also be starting dirt work on their new turf RWY 08/26. The new runway will be 1850ft long and 170ft wide.

Beaver Municipal:

Beaver had nothing new to report at this time.

Blackwell-Tonkawa Municipal:

Blackwell had nothing new to report at this time.

Cherokee Municipal:

Cherokee is currently at a standstill on its fuel pump and pilot’s lounge projects due to funding issues. They hope to be back on track in the near future.

Cheyenne Municipal:

Cheyenne had nothing new to report at this time.

Clinton Regional:

Clinton has three new businesses at their airport; two new aerial applicators and a new maintenance facility. On April 18th they will be starting their OAC sponsored seal coat project. Also in the near future, KCLK will be installing their very first 10,000 gallon Jet-A bulk tank.

Enid Woodring Regional:

Fairview Municipal:

Fairview has hired CEC as their new airport engineer and plans to start engineering on a new taxiway project this fiscal year.

Guymon Municipal:

Guymon has started their ramp project. They are currently removing a portion of old asphalt ramp and replacing part of it with concrete. The other part they will be installing a new taxi lane for future hangar growth.

Thomas P. Stafford

Weatherford’s LED lighting project for 17/35 is complete and they also added a new set of LED REILS to each end of the runway. 

Thomas Municipal

Thomas finished a crack seal/ seal coat project on RWY 17/35 a few months back but do not have any new projects planned for 2017. Due to a recent closure of J&C Enterprises, Thomas is looking for a new tenant/business to fill their large 25,000 sq ft hangar at the airport.  

Ponca City Regional:

Ponca’s ODALs have been installed and they are just waiting on a flight check to complete the project.

West Woodward Airport:

Woodward has a pre bid meeting next week for their LED taxiway light project and hopes to start construction in late summer or early fall.

Hooker Municipal Airport

Hooker is performing an obstruction survey to get new GPS approaches to runway 17/35.

Thomas P. Stafford

Weatherford has submitted grant applications for a future ramp and taxiway crack seal project.

Thomas Municipal

Thomas had nothing new to report but still is looking for a new tenant/business to fill their large 25,000 sq ft hangar at the airport.  

Watonga Regional Airport

Watonga is getting a new self service fuel system and bulk fuel tanks. They will now offer Jet-A and Avgas.



January 2017

Alva Regional:

Alva’s T-Hangar project is underway. The concrete and dirt portion of the project has been completed and they are still waiting on the 8-Pack T-Hangar kit to arrive.

Beaver Municipal:

Beaver has no new projects going on at this time but plan to go out for bids again on a 17/35 overlay project next fiscal year.

Blackwell-Tonkawa Municipal:

Blackwell recently finished their fencing and wind cone project. New automatic gates and wind cone have been installed and are working great. They have not decided on their next project yet.

Cherokee Municipal:

Cherokee has received FAA approval of their new fuel system. They are now working to fulfill the requirements of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and hope to have the fuel system fully functioning in the near future. The modular building they purchased to provide a pilot’s lounge and restroom facility, has been hooked up to electricity and should be getting plumbing later in the spring.

Cheyenne Municipal:

Cheyenne is looking into getting a fuel farm.

Clinton Regional:

Clinton plans to start a seal coat project on their ramp in March.

Enid Woodring Regional:

Woodring finished their apron project in December. The new apron is approximately 51,000 sq ft and sits north of the terminal building. It has already been put to great use. The airport has not decided on their next project.

Fairview Municipal:

Fairview is looking to start the engineering on a taxiway project in 2017.

 

Gage Airport:

Gage has no new projects at this time. However, they are looking for input on a good way a small town can market the extra land available at their airport to aviation businesses.

Guymon Municipal:

Guymon’s ramp project has been awarded and they hope to start in March.

Ponca City Regional:

Ponca is in the final stages of their 35 ODALS project and should be finished by the end of January. They do not have any other projects coming up in the near future.

West Woodward Airport:

Woodward recently finished a seal project on the run-up area near their crosswind runway. The engineering on their LED taxiway light project has been completed and they hope to start later this year.


October  2016

Alva Regional:

Alva’s T-Hangar project has been awarded and they will be receiving the 8-Pack T-Hangar kit sometime in December. The dirt work and concrete portion for the t-hangar project will be going out for bid soon.

Blackwell-Tonkawa Municipal:

Blackwell is currently installing some new fence around the airport and an automatic gate at the entrance. They also are installing a new wind cone.

Beaver Municipal:

Beaver rejected the only bid they got on their runway 17/35 overlay project and plans to go out for bid again next fiscal year.

Cherokee Municipal:

Cherokee is still waiting on FAA approval of their new fuel system. The modular building they purchased to provide a pilot’s lounge and restroom facility, has been moved to its’ final location. The airport is in the process of hooking it up to plumbing and electric.

Cheyenne Municipal:

Cheyenne is looking into getting a fuel farm.

Clinton Regional:

Clinton will be taking bids on a seal coat ramp project in the near future.

Enid Woodring Regional:

Woodring will be starting a new ramp project in mid October. They will be adding approximately 51,000 sq. ft. of new ramp to the Northwest of the terminal building.

Fairview Municipal:

Fairview is closing out paperwork on their runway extension and widening project. They will be starting a taxiway project next year.

Gage Airport:

Gage has no new projects at this time. However, they are looking for input on a good way a small town can market the extra land available at their airport.

Guymon Municipal:

Guymon’s ramp project has been awarded. They are looking to break ground in October but could be pushed to early spring due to weather.

Hooker Municipal:

Hooker’s PAPI foundation has been constructed. They are just waiting on the PAPI equipment to arrive so it can be installed.

Ponca City Regional:

Ponca has awarded their 35 ODALS project. They will be starting construction in November.

Thomas P. Stafford:

Weatherford’s LED lighting project on Runway 17/35 has been awarded. They expect the contractor to start next month.

West Woodward Airport:

Woodward has finished their crack seal and slurry on both Runway 5/23 and their parallel taxiway. Next project will be to seal a run-up area near their crosswind runway. They are also starting engineering on a project to install LED runway lights on 17/35 and the parallel taxiway.

Alva Regional:

Alva is doing a lot of mowing. They are about to open bids and start a T- Hangar project soon. Traffic and fuel sales are slow.

Beaver Municipal:

Beaver will hopefully be accepting there only bid for a runway overlay soon. Next project will be to work on their parking apron.

Cherokee Municipal:

Cherokee is currently installing a new fuel system. A modular building has been purchased to provide a pilot’s lounge and restroom facilities at the airport.

Clinton Regional

Clinton has no new projects going on at this time. Traffic has been steady and fuel sales have been good.

Enid Woodring Regional

Woodring’s runway extension is complete. All new NAVAIDs have been installed and the last new approach plate will be published on July 21st. Fuel sales and traffic are picking up.

Guymon Municipal:

Guymon has a ramp project going out for bid soon. Mowing has slowed down a bit due to the lack of rain and heat. Traffic is increasing and fuel sales are great.

Hooker Municipal:

Hooker will be installing PAPIs on Runway 17/35.

Ponca City Regional:

Ponca has no new projects going on. They are planning to install some new approach lighting in about three months. Traffic and fuel sales are steady.

Thomas P. Stafford:

Weatherford is starting a lighting project on Runway 17/35. They will be replacing all the runway lights with LEDs. Bids on the project will be opened next week. Traffic and fuel sales are slow.

West Woodward Airport:

Woodward is doing a crack seal and slurry on both Runway 5/23 and their parallel taxiway. They are also doing a repair on their AWOS which was struck by lightning. Traffic is slow but Avgas sales seem to be up.

October 2015 Report

Clinton:

Getting close to finishing up on Phase II, Fencing.
Traffic is good and fuel sales are really good. Getting ready for winter time.

Ponca City:

Ramp project is complete.  Traffic has been good.
No new projects until next year. Just doing minor maintenance on buildings for now.

Guymon:

Crack sealant project is about to kick off in the first part of November. Runway will be closed for approximately two weeks.

Still on schedule for 2016 to construct new Apron in front of terminal building.
Traffic is good and steady.

Hooker:

Will be doing a crack sealant project on runway, hopefully this year. Not much going on.

Enid:

Will be restriping runway this week and opening back up for VFR traffic. Runway now is 8002 ft.
Finish up south ramp crack sealant project and main terminal parking area.
Have new lighting around Terminal ramp. Fuel sales are down some but looking to recover soon.

Woodward:

Military hanger door project has been approved and doors have been ordered. Painting some of the T-Hangers now.
Currently working on a OAC funding project to rehabilitate runway 523 and taxi-lane.
Oil field is slow and so is the air traffic. Big jet traffic is slow.

ALVA:

Starting on dirt work at the end of the month for the taxi-way extension T-Hanger project. Hope to build 6 to 8 new Hangers.
GPS system has been approved and runway 17-35 is closed and turned into a taxi-lane.
Traffic has been good, Steady!!

Weatherford:

They are about half way into the OAC project to Rehab there runway and taxi-way.  They did repairs on the concrete, restripe and resealed.
Runway back open for traffic. Hope to be done by the end of the month.
Traffic has been really good.

JANUARY 2015 REPORT

Clinton:   Winter time blues, working mainly on fencing around the airport property. With the warm weather, traffic is looking a lot better.

 

GUYMON:   Crack sealant project on Runway  in 2015. Apron reconstruction design phase only in 2015.

Traffic is good considering the time of the year. We are looking to buy a used truck with snow plow and wing for the airport. If anybody as a good contact that could maybe fix us up, please give the city a call.

 

PONCA CITY:   Traffic has slow than busy then back to slow again, just that time of the year.

Construction on Ramp North of Terminal building in 2015.

 

ENID:   Runway project is still on schedule. Have had a few weather problems. They are in the paving stage at this time. Traffic has been a little slow because of the time of the year but there has been some decreases in fuel price.

 

HOOKER:   Apron project is about 75 percent completed. Will be laying sod in the spring. Weather of course is always a issue here.

Runway is 3200 Ft. x 60 Ft. and needs a crack sealant project in the near future.

 

WEATHFORD:   Pavement rehabilitation is done. 

Traffic has been a little slow this winter but they have been pretty busy the last two weeks.

 

WOODWARD:  Ramp project should be completed very soon. Will still need to be painted and Tie downs put in place.

Two corp. hangers are being built.

Runway  will be closed for about 45 days to install the ODALS project. It will start on the Jan. 26th

Runway 5-23 will be open. It is 2500 Ft. long.

Traffic is spotty. 

 

ALVA:   T- Hanger and Taxi lane extension design is about 90 percent completed.

Fuel prices are down some at this time. 

Traffic flow is based on weather this time of the year.

OCTOBER 2014 REPORT

1.Clinton: Phase 1 of their fencing project is completed, which consisted of chain link on the West side and South side, and security gates. Mowing has slowed down finally.

2.Ponca City: Will be starting their ramp joint sealant project soon. Traffic is good, pick up a lot in the last few weeks. Other than that, business as usual.

3.Guymon: Traffic is steady, good weather this summer. Will be starting a crack sealant on runway in 2015.  Also in 2015, design phase only, reconstruction of Apron in front of Terminal building.

4.Enid: Starting runway project this week, hope to be completed in June of 2105. When completed, they will have an 8611 foot runway, with a landing surface of 8000 feet. Traffic is busy. Hoping to break a record in Jet fuel sales this year of 300,000 gallons.

5.Hooker: Have a small Apron construction project starting soon. Traffic is normal. Slow at times.

6.Weatherford: Not much going on. Some days they are very busy and then other days slow depending a lot on the weather conditions.

7.Woodward: Breaking ground as we speak on Two Corporate hangers. Waiting on startup of Ramp-LED runway project. Traffic is hot and cold but over all very good.

8.Beaver:  Will be doing a design grant with FAA on overlay of runway.

9.Cheyenne: Nothing to report on. In the last year, the city has a new City Manager and I invited him to come and get involved with OAOA.

10.Laverne:  At this time, the city is looking to widen there runway and is getting some cost estimates.

11.Alva: New tractor with dozer blade for snow removal. Moving forward with grant on taxi-lane extension for T-hangers. GPS approach will be starting and hope to be completed by Aug. 2015. Traffic is steady and has been really good in the last month. Greg wanted everyone to know, if you have a By-fold hanger door, make sure you check on the hinges. When they break, your life changes in a second and it make a heck of a mess.
